Product Description

Tungsten Carbide Solid Rods (often referred to as Carbide Rods or Tungsten Steel Rods) are high-performance composite materials manufactured through a powder metallurgy process. Composed of high-purity Tungsten Carbide (WC) powder and Cobalt (Co) binder, these rods serve as the essential raw material for manufacturing high-precision cutting tools and wear-resistant components.

Features of Tungsten Carbide Solid Rods

  • Dimension Stability

Carbide Solid Rods have the excellent dimension stability, they won’t deform easily because of the changes of temperature and pressure.

  • Machinability

Due to solid blank rods have the properties of high hardness and fragility, they’re usually processed by EDM cutting machines.

  • Customized

Tungsten Carbide Solid Rods can be customized according to different sizes, shape and grade, and be applied in all kinds of industries.

  • High Density

Density of solid blank rods is usually at 14-15 g/cm³, which can provide the good mechanical properties and stability.

  • Longer Service Time

Advantages of high hardness, wear-resistance and corrosion resistance make solid blank rods have the longer service time.

Typical Applications

  1. Cutting Tool Manufacturing: Used to produce solid carbide end mills, drills, reamers, countersinks, and engraving tools.
  2. Precision Industries: Widely utilized in Aerospace, Automotive, Mold & Die, and Medical Device manufacturing.
  3. Electronics: Essential for making PCB Micro-drills used in high-density circuit board production.
  4. Wear Parts: Used for punching pins, bushings, mandrels, and other components subjected to heavy wear.

Why Choose Our Tungsten Carbide Solid Rods?

100% Virgin Raw Materials

We never compromise by using recycled scrap. All our rods are manufactured from 100% virgin Tungsten Carbide and Cobalt powder.

Sinter-HIP Technology

Our rods undergo Overpressure Sintering (Sinter-HIP). This process eliminates internal porosity and microscopic voids.

H6 Tolerance

We provide rods with h6 tolerance as standard. This means they are ready for immediate use in CNC tool grinders without further calibration, saving you time and reducing setup costs.

FAQs

A1: For Stainless Steel/Titanium Alloys: Choose 10%–12% Cobalt with Sub-micron/Ultra-fine grain. This provides the best balance of wear resistance and edge toughness.

For Hardened Steel (HRC 50+): Choose 6%–8% Cobalt with Ultra-fine grain for maximum hardness and heat resistance.

For Heavy-duty/Impact Machining: Choose 15% Cobalt for superior shock resistance and to prevent chipping.

A2: Yes. Beyond standard solid rods, we provide:

Custom Geometry: Step rods, chamfered ends, or specific lengths (e.g., 310mm, 330mm, or cut-to-size).

Coolant Holes: Single or double straight holes, and double helical holes (30° or 40°).

A3: We use 100% Virgin Tungsten Carbide (WC) and Cobalt (Co) powder.
